A Message from our President

Hello Fellow Friends, Pirates and Supporters

It is with great pride and excitement that we officially announce the launch of the Black Alumni Network (BAN)—a nonaffiliated nonprofit organization formed to Engage, Connect, and Uplift Black alumni and current students of East Carolina University.

Our mission is clear and deeply rooted in the spirit of community: to foster a lifelong connection among Black alumni, students, faculty, and staff by creating meaningful opportunities for mentorship, professional development, cultural celebration, and collective advancement. The Black Alumni Network will serve as a bridge—linking generations of Pirates in support, solidarity, and success.

Whether you graduated last year or decades ago, your presence, perspective, and participation matter. This is our time to not only honor our shared history at ECU but to build a stronger, more empowered future—together.

We are calling on Black ECU alumni across the state, the nation, and around the world to join us. Engage with us. Connect with us. And support this vital movement during a time we need you most. Let’s uplift each other, celebrate our legacy, and invest in the success of those who follow in our footsteps.

Stay tuned for more on events, programs, and opportunities to get involved. Our journeys began the moment we stepped foot on campus—and there is still important work to be done.

In Pirate Pride and Purpose,

Felecia Robinson
