Our Mission
The Black Alumni Network is a nonprofit organization that exists to engage, connect, and uplift Black alumni and students by fostering meaningful relationships, strengthening ties to the university, celebrating our legacy, and advancing opportunities through stewardship and support. While there is no direct affiliation with East Carolina University, our mission is to empower the next generation of Pirates and honor the excellence of those who came before us.

WELCOME
A Message from
our President

Hello Black Pirate Family,
It is with tremendous Pirate Pride, gratitude, and excitement that I welcome you to the continued growth of YOUR Black Alumni Network.
Since our official soft launch on August 1, 2025, we have made meaningful strides together. From hosting watch parties and virtual networking opportunities to participating in the Black Student Success Summit, our momentum continues to grow. We are also proud to share that the Black Alumni Network is now an officially registered nonprofit organization — a milestone made possible through the dedication of our leadership team and the unwavering support of alumni like you.
As we continue to expand, we are welcoming new board members and building greater opportunities to serve our community. In the months ahead, we will invite members to contribute their time, talent, and treasure as we strengthen our impact and deepen alumni engagement.
Growth brings opportunity, and we want to hear from you. If there are programs, events, or initiatives you would like to see from the Black Alumni Network, please connect with us at blackpiratealumnetwork@gmail.com.
Our mission remains clear: to Engage, Connect, and Uplift Black students and alumni of East Carolina University. As we continue this journey, we will create more meaningful ways for you to stay involved, give back, and support the next generation of Black Pirates.
If you have not already done so, please sign up for updates and stay connected with us:
