It’s time to submit your favorite Pirate alumni for one of the awards listed below.

The Laura Marie Leary Elliott Courageous Leader Award
Bearing the name of Laura Marie Leary (1944-2013), a Vanceboro native who was the first full-time African American student to graduate from East Carolina College. The award recognizes noteworthy and distinctive achievements made by alumni. The recipient should demonstrate significant accomplishment or promise in their fields, offer inspiration and encouragement as models for principled leadership, and exhibit civic, cultural or charitable involvement within their communities.

The Dr. Andrew A. Best Trailblazer Award
This award recognizes ground breakers, innovators and pioneers who have devoted their time and effort in servant leadership. The recipient of this award will demonstrate a heart of great passion to give and to serve, so those following can inherit a better life.

Ledonia S. Wright Outstanding Faculty/Staff Award
This award recognizes university employees or faculty members who have made outstanding contributions to mentoring students and serving the ECU campus community.
